Shreddybed has proved very popular for horses, ponies and donkeys alike. In line with recommendations from the British Horse Society the bedding is dust extracted and free of mould spores which can cause respiratory problems not only for animals but also for carers.
Why ShreddyBed? How to use it Testimonialswhy shreddybed
Droppings and wet bedding can be removed efficiently and easily with the minimum loss of bedding. It is easy to create a warm and comfortable bed which is supportive for horses whether standing or lying down.Shreddybed does not react with the ammonia in urine; providing a clean and odourless bed. It is also non toxic and unpalatable.
Shreddybed is particularly good for sensitive or injured horses as it will not stick to minor cuts or abrasions and has a high, clean quality.
The added advantage of Shreddybed is the speed in which it bio-degrades as a natural product the bedding will reduce very quickly in a muck heap; out performing other bedding materials such as shavings.
how to use it
Starting OffWith a clean and dry stable floor, empty sufficient Shreddybed to cover the desired area and spread evenly using a shavings fork. If you have a concrete floor we would recommend a bed of around six inches in depth.
Routine
Shreddybed is easy to muck out on a regular basis and can be managed in a number of ways to suit both your horse and your own routine. We have found the following works well on horses that are stabled at night and out during the day:
(1) Skip out droppings from the stable twice a day (with a bucket and gloves or a shavings fork and wheelbarrow).
(2) Remove wet shreddybed from your stable twice a week.
Removing wet bedding could not be easier; after ensuring all dropping have been removed, use a shavings fork to throw the clean shreddybed up against the sides of your stable. Try to avoid banking clean bedding in any areas you may wish to wash out later. Once you have transferred all the clean bedding to the edges of your stable you will be left with the wet bedding which can be forked and shovelled out.
Once all the wet bedding has been removed, sweep the floor and wash down if necessary, taking care not to get dry bedding wet! Once the stable floor has dried off; fork down shreddybed from the edges and top up with fresh shreddybed as desired.
Replace water buckets and return your horse to his clean dry stable of Shreddybed!
testimonials
Having spent over 40 years of my working life as a horse professional and competitor in several disciplines up to International level, I have been delighted to discover Shreddybed and the benefits it has to offer livestock and their keepers. I have found it extremely economical and easy to muck out especially as lifting heavy weights is difficult for me now. It has halved the cost of bedding on shavings, is warm and comfortable for animals, does not blow about the yard and better still will decompose into fantastic compost in just a few weeks.
I wish this product had been available when I had a yard full of horses! Thank you for an innovative and thoroughly useable product that does everything it says on the bag!

My pony Quincey, approaching 35, has suffered from breathing and laminitic problems over the years. We converted to Shreddybed having tried many other forms of bedding and we were instantly delighted by the dust free, comfortable, warm bed it made.

I find Shreddybed to be excellent bedding for my event horse Chloe. It is clean, dust free and provides a very comfy bed. It is also much easier to muck out than straw, because it absorbs the wet; this means the whole bed stays drier for longer. I would thoroughly recommend it!

We found ShreddyBed highly absorbent, long lasting, easy to handle and odourless, plus, its good to know you are helping the environment by using recycled material too.

I am really impressed with ShreddyBed. For winter and summer use, I find it clean and practical. My horse is certainly very comfortable, and I find the absorbent and virtually odourless qualities exceed those I have found from other bedding. ShreddyBed is tidy around the yard even when it is windy and doesn't get stuck in my horse’s tail.
