Why ShreddyBed? How to use it Testimonials

why shreddybed

Shreddybed is absorbent, lightweight, in-expensive and non toxic.  The bedding is also fully bio-degradable so can be composted, used as a fertiliser or soil amendment after use.

The insulating properties of the cardboard used to make Shreddybed provides a warm environment for chicks or full grown birds; guaranteeing a protective cushion between the birds and the floor.  The dust free qualities of Shreddybed ensure that is ideal for chicks, avoiding any dehydration or respiratory problems.  The absence of fungal spores also helps to eliminate any infections or diseases caused by contaminated litter.

Shreddybed considerably reduces ammonia levels in shedding which can lead to depressed growth, increased feed conversion in broilers and with very high levels even blindness.  Ammonia levels can also be harmful to people, cause air pollution and lower the fertiliser value of the litter due to nitrogen loss.

how to use it

For small hen or duck houses place a layer of Shreddybed underneath the perches or in your nesting boxes to absorb moisture and droppings and to help control odours.  Keep an eye on the bedding and remove any overly damp or soiled patches and top up with clean bedding.  You may need to completely clean out your housing every 4-6 weeks, although in the winter you may want to let the bedding build up as you top up to provide extra warmth.  Discarded bedding can be composted extremely quickly and used in your garden.

For commercial shedding you will need approximately one bale for every 8sqm to provide 2 inch coverage.  Shreddybed can be spread manually and discarded bedding can be used as a fertiliser or soil amendment.
